There is always lore about flowers, and the dogwood is no exception. As the story goes, the cross of Christ was made from dogwood and because of that the tree was changed. It no longer grows straight and tall, but bent and curved. There was also a blessing in this. It was given flowers that commemorate the cross in shape.

Me? I just love the simple clean beauty of the flowers in springtime.
